Awkwafina

American musician and actor Awkwafina debuted with sly hip-hop tracks that addressed racial identity and sexuality with boldly comedic perspective before broadening her presence to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Koreans living in Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was via the trumpet. Classical, jazz and hip-hop studies began when she grew up. While at school, she majored in journalism, and women's studies in college even learning Mandarin in Beijing for a time. After graduating, it wasn't until that she shifted her focus to music. The song My Vag, a response track to Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity on the Internet in 2012. It eventually made it on her album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. The album also had songs that were viral such as body-positive Queef or the winking city tour in NYC Bitche$. The latter track was linked to another project, Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. After she established herself as a performer and author, she decided to take on acting roles. In addition to early shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies such as Neighbors 2, Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed many notable roles that were a breakthrough, like Dude Ocean's 8 or Crazy Rich Asians. She released the EP,"At Fina We Trust in June of the same year.
