Awkwafina
Awkwafina started out as an American musician and rapper releasing sly tracks that tackled questions of race and sexual identity with a comedic twist. Before expanding to Hollywood the singer was able to release a number of songs. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the daughter of Chinese immigrants and Korean immigrants. Following her Jazz and classical training She delved into hip-hop as a teen. At college, she was studying journalism and women's studies. In addition, she spent a short time studying Mandarin during her time in Beijing. It wasn't until she graduated that her focus shift to music. After gaining viral fame via the Internet and her own song My Vag was a reaction to the song of Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually was included on the album she released, Yellow Ranger. The album featured other viral hits like the body-positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC BitcheUSD. This track was directly linked to another project, Awkwafina's NYC a travel guide published in the year 2015. After having a great career as a musician and songwriter, she chose to assume the role of an actor. Her film credits include films including Neighbors 2, Storks as well as Bad Rap. She had a breakthrough role in 2018 with a few high profile films, including Dude Ocean's Eight as well as Crazy Rich Asians. She released the EP, in Fina We Trust in June of that year.
